The Triangle of Creation Part 1 - Why 2701 is T(73)?
The Mathematical Architecture of Genesis: From the "How" to the "Why"
The "How" vs. The "Why"
When exploring the mathematical architecture of the First Verse of Genesis, we immediately encounter the number 2701—the Regular Gematria Value of the verse. To understand its structure, we must first ask how this number is constructed.
2701 is a figurative number—specifically, a triangular number. Figurative numbers represent quantities that can be arranged into regular geometric patterns. A triangular number ($T_n$) is formed by building a grid of points, starting from a base of $n$ points and decreasing by one point per row until reaching a single point at the apex. The formula for any triangular number is:
$$T_n = \frac{n(n+1)}{2}$$
If we plug 73 into this formula, we get exactly 2701.
Another way to understand this geometry is through simple counting and addition. We start with 1, then 2, then 3... and so on. Each subsequent number is 1 greater than the previous one. When we arrange these numbers physically—a single point at the apex, a row of 2 points below it, a row of 3 points below that—we construct a triangular figurative number.
When we conclude this progression at the 73rd row—meaning the base contains exactly 73 points—the total sum of the points is represented by the arithmetic series:
$$1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + \dots + 73 = 2701$$
Both the formula and the summation perfectly answer the question of How. They prove mathematically that the total Gematria of the First Verse is T73. However, this does not answer the question of Why. Why is 2701 the default, foundational number derived from the opening statement of creation? Why did the Creator, the architect of reality, choose this specific geometry, the configuration of the very first polygon?
Fundamental Understanding: What is a Triangle?
In geometry, the triangle is the first possible polygon. It is impossible to create a closed, two-dimensional shape with fewer than three sides. If the First Verse is the "cornerstone" of reality, it is only natural that it is represented by the most primary shape:
- The Point is one (1).
- The Line is two (2).
- The Surface (Shape) begins at three (3).
The use of a triangular number symbolizes the transition from the unitary simplicity of the Creator to the initial complexity of tangible creation. The triangle, therefore, represents the first surface, and it is effectively the first in an infinite series of polygons that aspire toward the form of a circle.
The Triangle and the Circle: The Journey Toward Infinity
To understand the position of the triangle, it must be viewed in relation to all other shapes:
- The Triangle ($n=3$): This is the most "spiky" shape, the furthest removed from a circle. It is the polygon with the smallest area relative to its perimeter. It represents the beginning—the first breaking of unity into a defined form.
- As $n$ grows: The square, the pentagon, the hexagon... every additional side "sands down" the corners. The polygon begins to fill space in a more circular manner.
- The Circle ($n=\infty$): The state where the number of sides is infinite, and the length of each side is zero. The circle is the "polygon of infinite sides," representing absolute perfection.
In this context, there is much more to learn about the deep connection between Pi ($\pi$) and creation, a topic we will explore deeply in future articles.
The Semantics of Figurative Numbers
To answer the Why, we must look at the flow of information encoded within figurative geometry. Numbers are not merely quantities; they possess semantic meaning.
To grasp this profoundly, one must be familiar with the ten Sephirot, the purpose of creation, and the symbolic and metaphysical principles of semantic coherence. As a baseline, however, we must note that triangles inherently establish directionality and hierarchy.
The moment we move from "1" to "2"—and specifically when we place the "2" beneath the "1"—a decision is made regarding hierarchy and direction (up and down). The fixation of the shape arrives at step "3". When there were only two levels, one could still draw a circle pivoting around the initial projecting point, but a triangle locks a specific boundary and orientation into place.
The continued construction of the shape generates progression—a projection from top to bottom. Once built, it possesses a foundation (a base) that reflects this directional energy back toward the point of origin. Therefore, constructed figurative triangles point toward a specific location, representing a systematic buildup from a broad, supportive base to a singular, unified apex.
While much more can be said about the boundary systems of equilateral triangles and their balanced symmetry, we must recognize that certain triangles—like T73—also possess a precise central point. This specific geometry creates an inherent structural tension: a desire for unification with its opposites (a phenomenon that ultimately generates Star of David figurations, though that is a story for another time).
When we conceptualize a symmetrical top-down construction—removing the dimension of time from the equation—the buildup centers around its origin of thought. This origin acts as a locus of consciousness, resonating most powerfully at the central point. Think of a completed triangle not just as a shape, but as part of an architectural blueprint allowing foundational layers to be built for other shapes; this is exactly what this specific triangle accomplishes.
How? In T73, the base row consists of exactly 73 points. It points upward to a single monad, built upon exactly 73 rows. In the context of Genesis 1:1, this structural requirement dictates that the entire universe relies on this foundational row. Kabbalistically, we understand a priori that 73 is the Gematria of Chochmah (Wisdom). The geometry demonstrates that Chochmah acts as the a priori context—a quiet, firm foundation upon which consciousness and all subsequent creation can rest securely. This connection will be explained extensively in a series of articles dedicated to Chochmah, where we will see that $2701 = 73 \times 37$, with 37 serving as the central point of 73, both functioning as numbers of the Sephirah of Chochmah.
Vectors of Creation: Chessed and Gevurah
When creation initiates, the primary event is expansion. It begins with a single point, expands to two, then to three, moving outward without breaking the formation. This action creates a vector, or a line.
If the base row is 73 (Chochmah), the subsequent line of expansion rising along the side of the triangle contains 72 new points. In the Sephirotic tree, 72 is the exact value of Chessed (Loving-kindness), representing the attribute of pure, boundless expansion.
Once Chessed completes its trajectory, the perimeter must close. The line breaks its angle, shifting 60 degrees from the initial vector to form the third side of the triangle. The total number of points outlining this vast triangular perimeter is exactly 216 (73 base + 72 side + 71 side). 216 is the Gematria of Gevurah (Strength/Judgment)—the precise attribute of restriction, boundary, and containment.
We immediately see that 2701 is not merely projecting "Chochmah" as a base. The geometry is literally narrating the story of creation via the ten Sephirot. Expansion (Chessed - 72) is contained by a boundary (Gevurah - 216), resting securely upon the foundation of Wisdom (Chochmah - 73). These are not coincidences; they are exact structural alignments.
The Inner Heart of the First Verse
The depth of T73 is revealed even further when we gaze into its center. Inside the great triangle of 2701 sits a perfectly inverted, flawless inner triangle consisting of 703 points.
703 is, in fact, the triangle of 37 ($T_{37}$). This fact creates a breathtaking numerical mirror, because the total triangle itself is the product of these two numbers: $37 \times 73 = 2701$. The number 37 acts as the central point, the beating heart of the entire structure.
This macro and micro geometry is reflected flawlessly in the physical text of the First Verse itself. The verse is divided precisely according to this geometric ratio:
- The first five words ("In the beginning God created the heavens") sum to exactly 1998.
- The last two words ("and the earth" – where "V'et" is 407, and "HaAretz" is 296) sum to exactly 703.
$$1998 + 703 = 2701$$
The physical text of the verse perfectly mimics its geometric reality. The First Verse is not merely a statement; it is the ultimate architectural blueprint, where the physical earth (703) sits as an inner core pointing downward, completely surrounded by the vast, expanding architecture of the heavens (1998).
(There is much more to expand upon, which we will do in future articles).
